Donations

Mother Earth Hindu Temple is a one-of-a-kind venture in Scotland and in the UK at large. It is an ambitious but worthy project that will not only serve the spiritual needs of the community, but provide education to all communities and our youth about the value of ancient and indigenous wisdom and the way of life advocated by Sanātana Dharma, to the environment and to human civilisation.
No project is possible without financial support and any donations big or small, towards this noble and important venture, will be gratefully received.
At present, we are specifically looking for support with donations and fundraising to raise a corpus to start UKs first Mother Earth Hindu Temple and Cultural & Community Centre in the south-side of Glasgow.
We have identified a fit for purpose building in East Renfrewshire that would be suitable for the requirements of the community and after negotiations over more than a year, agreed on a price for purchase of the building.
We are hoping this would be our place for community and cultural activities, worship and youth education, cutting across the linguistic and regional barriers.
This building is conveniently located in the heart of our community and many of us have attended some of the MEHTG events at this venue.
Q.1. What are the modes of payment I can choose to pay Mother Earth Hindu Temple Glasgow (MEHTG)?
A. You can pay online (preferable) via our payments partner Enthuse for hassle free addition of gift aid or Bank Transfer. We also accept bank transfer, cheque or cash payment through an authorised person on providing an official receipt. These payment options are described in detail below. We are a registered Scottish charity SC051614 with HMRC approval to receive Gift Aid.
Q.2. What is Gift Aid?
A. Gift Aid is a great way for you to help MEHTG maximise the value of its donations. Gift Aid is a simple scheme that allows charities to recover the tax already paid on donations at no extra cost to you. As a registered charity, we can claim back an extra 25p from HMRC on every £1 donated to us in Gift Aid. If you are UK tax payer, please tick the Gift Aid box when you donate online to us. This will increase your donation to us by an extra 25% at no extra cost to you.
Please note – we’re unable to claim Gift Aid on donations made in return for tickets (raffles, events and auctions at our events)
Q.3. What is the tax relief available to me after donating to MEHTG?
A. You can claim back the difference between the tax you have paid on the donation and what the charity got back when you do this through your self-assessment tax return (ask HMRC to amend your tax) or donate straight from your payroll for your wages and pension (before tax is deducted by payroll).
To donate GBP 1 to MEHTG you actually pay (tax index 2023-24):
81p if you are a starter rate taxpayer
80p – basic rate taxpayer
79p – intermediate rate taxpayer
59p – higher rate taxpayer
54p – top rate taxpayer
Your limited company can pay less corporation tax when it donates money to a charity like MEHTG. You can deduct the value of the donations from your total business profits before you pay tax.
If you sponsor a charity like MEHTG, you can deduct the sponsorship payments from your business profits before you pay tax by treating them as business expenses.
Q.4. What are the benefits available to me, if I donate as founder member to MEHTG?
A. Apart from significant tax relief available to you on your donations as described above, your lump-sum donations provide you the benefits of:
a. Founder’s recognition and membership benefits – Founder Patrons and Founder members and supporters will be recognised and their/ family names will be displayed prominently within the Mandir premises – something that we and our families can be proud of, for generations to come.
b. access to different rooms/ halls at the venue (pre-booking required) to organise important events such as birthdays, anniversaries, business promotions etc..
c. priority entry rights to all future cultural events prior to any invitation to non-members.
d. Members access to educational events, language classes, dance classes etc at nominal charges.

This place will become an important place of congregation for the community to not only serve it’s spiritual needs, but provide education to all communities and youth about the value of ancient and indigenous wisdom and the way of life advocated by Sanatana Dharma, to the environment and to human civilisation. Your generosity to help reach the target will be gratefully acknowledged. Any amount that you can donate is appreciated.
